This week has been an interesting one as I have learned a little bit about how to hand stamp metal. This means of course that I got carried away a bit with new designs and have been totally tunnel visioned for the past few days!
I am loving using my new stamping equipment and have busily created a few lovely pendant necklaces and a bracelet.
As we have Mother’s Day approaching, I thought it would be nice to create something uniquely handmade with mums in mind and as I have also been working a little with leather cord recently, this simply designed bracelet came to mind.
I am a massive bead lover and enjoy making beaded jewellery very much, so this week has been bit of a change for me. Away went the beading ideas, and I had to concentrate on using different materials in my designs to compliment the hand stamping.
Using aluminium tags for stamping has meant that I have needed to abandon my colourful beads and work more with leather cord, fancy or chunky chains and silvery charms.
I am very pleased with the end results and now that I have mastered the metal stamping, I can easily use the tags to incorporate into future designs. So it’s a new string to my bow and a different style to add to my handmade jewellery selection in store.
The hand stamped tags are a great way to personalize an item of jewellery too, so I am happy to be able to offer this as a service in the shop while you wait.
So that’s another chapter in my creative journey underway. It will be back to my beads for a little while now I think.
A day for earrings coming up tomorrow as I have a couple of shelves looking low on stock!
Earrings, my favourites ?
