One of the things that I really do enjoy in my work as a jewellery designer is being able to create something different from a piece of unworn jewellery, giving it a new lease of life.
I have recently had a chance to do some work for one of my customers who owns some lovely costume jewellery that she really likes, but has difficulty wearing due to the poor original design.
The bracelet with the pretty silver and amethyst colour centrepiece was on a simple cord which slipped open and the earrings were dangly studs which were far too heavy for a single stud design.
Now, the new look bracelet is complemented with matching beads and safely secured with a lobster clasp. The earrings have been made into a simple smaller stud with the top part and a dangly pair featuring the large flowers.
So check out that jewellery box and have a rethink about the things that you no longer wear. You never know what delights they can be turned into.
