I have had the busiest week at The Jewellery Vault in Scarborough Market Vaults. Preparations are in full swing to get the shop ready for Springtime and the forthcoming hectic tourist season.
Lots of display changes, sorting, tidying and of course creating of new designs for stock.
We are indeed fast approaching March (where on earth has February gone?). This of course means that we have a new birthstone to focus on in the form of Aquamarine.
After a little bit of research I discovered that the name of this stone originates from the Latin “aqua marinus” meaning “water of the sea” and yes it has a beautiful sea like bluish green colour.
Said to be calming, soothing and cleansing, it inspires truth, trust and letting go. In ancient lore it is believed to be the treasure of mermaids and was used by sailors as a talisman of good luck, fearlessness and protection.
Considered also to be a stone of eternal youth and happiness.
After all that, it has healing properties too by calming fears and phobias. It’s is the stone of protection and courage. It is also used to promote verbal self expression and to enhance spiritual communication.
Quite a lot going on for the Aquamarine in addition to it being a very beautiful coloured stone. One of my favourite colours which I often use in jewellery making.
So for all of you lucky ladies out there with a March birthday, treat yourself (or get someone else to treat you) to something in Aquamarine. You will get a lovely colourful piece of jewellery to remind you of the sea with some fabulous qualities too.
